Award-winning Canadian comedian, satirist and television personality Rick Mercer had Sault Ste. Marie in stitches Friday night during his appearance at the Kiwanis Community Theatre Centre.

Award-winning Canadian comedian, satirist and television personality Rick Mercer had Sault Ste. Marie in stitches Friday night during his appearance at the Kiwanis Community Theatre Centre.

The sold out performance, presented by the Welcome Friend Association, included an opening showcase of Adam Proulx's Bakers Dozen puppet theatre.

Both performers received standing ovations for their work.

Welcome Friend Association President Harry Stewart was please to report that the evening raised $25,000 for the foundation's Rainbow Camp which supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer questioning, and allied (LGBTQA) youth and their families.
