NLFB Meltdown 2015: Back in a big way!

SUDBURY - Northern Lights Festival Boréal's annual Meltdown event is back once again!

The event, scheduled for March 21, gives emerging musicians the chance to compete for a booking at Northern Lights Festival Boréal 2015, which will take place July 3-5 in Sudbury’s Bell Park.

This is an excellent opportunity for emerging artists to gain valuable exposure, and have a great time doing it!

The event will be divided into two portions: solo acts including singer-songwriters and spoken-word artists will perform between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. while, bands and larger groups will perform between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. at The Townehouse Tavern (206 Elgin St., Sudbury).

Admission for spectators is $7 and includes admission to the night show: psychadelic dub/reggae band FreeDubStar.

The registration fee for performers is $25 per act, and includes a one year membership to NLFB*.

Performers are each assigned a 15-minute time slot (three songs).

Participants must be registered by March 18 at the absolute latest.

In addition to playing the summer festival entrants are eligible for musical mentorship programs held at the event.

Those who are interested are asked to contact the NLFB office at 705-674-5512 or [email protected] in order to register.

Registration forms are available on the NLFB website, and in the office at 19 Grey Street.

NLFB is Canada's longest running outdoor music festival and celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2011.

The festival attracts anywhere between 10,000 and 15,000 people per year.

Over the years NLFB has grown from a one-day event called the ‘Northern Lights Folk Festival’ into a seasoned presenter of roots and modern music.

NLFB had become known as a vibrant celebration of musical and artistic discovery.

*Entrants travelling from outside of Sudbury will be eligible for a refund of the registration fee.
