NEWS RELEASE

ALGOMA FAMILY SERVICES

*************************
In honour of this year’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Algoma Family Services will be hosting an art exhibit and gala on November 19, 2015 at the Grand Theatre, 641 Queen Street East.

The “End the Silence” exhibit will be on display from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m., with the gala portion taking place at 6 p.m.

The exhibit features the work of women and children who have experienced abuse.

Their art often symbolizes the journey they experience as they move from hurt to healing.

As facilitators of the art expression and creating connections programs, we have witnessed the profound impact that the use of expressive arts has on the healing process.

This show breaks the silence about women and children traumatized by domestic violence.

These courageous participants are to be commended for their willingness to share their work and help promote awareness of these issues.

The free event will include refreshments, kids crafts, local speakers, and music.

Hot chocolate will also be served for those who wish to get warm during Moonlight Magic.

For more information, please contact Danielle Ayotte at 705-945-5050 Ext. 2715.
