Graham W. Turner

December 28, 1924 - October 24, 2014 - Passed away, peacefully, on Friday, October 24th, 2014, Ret. RCAF Corporal Graham W. Turner, at the Columbia Forest L.T.C., Waterloo and formerly of Hickory Hills (Hawkins Cres.) Tillsonburg and Orangeville, at the age of 89. Born in Cochrane, Ontario, Graham answered the call and served with distinction under active duty conditions with the RCAF during World War II in the European Theatre. Graham was a proud and dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. # 153, Tillsonburg who served the Legion actively as a former Legion Treasurer, member of the Legion Colour Party, Parkwood Hospital Visitations, Decoration Day Services and Poppy sales. Graham and Edna were former residents of Hawkins Cres, Hickory Hills since 1991. Graham worked as a Field Accountant for Hill, Clark and Francis Construction, North Bay and G & H Steel Co., Toronto. Predeceased by his much loved wife Mary “Edna” (Poirier) Turner R.N.(September 1, 2013) who was a former RCAF Flight Nurse during the Korean War. Much loved father and father-in-law of his two sons: Doug (Sue) Turner, Waterloo; and Earl (Eva) Turner, Sault-Ste-Marie. Proud and loving grandfather of: Sara, Mark, Jennifer and David and three great-grandchildren: McKenna, Simon, Alyosha. Predeceased by his parents Douglas Turner and the former Emily (Nunn) Turner. Also predeceased by his twin sister Jean Teeple (1968). Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow the Honours of the Royal Canadian Legion Memorial Service held in honour of a Veteran ( Ret. RCAF Corporal Graham W. Turner) on Wednesday, October 29th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the VERHOEVE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 262 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg, by Legion Padre Rev. Fr. William Ward of St. John’s Anglican Church, Tillsonburg. Inurnment will follow adjacent to the Legion Burial Grounds, Tillsonburg Cemetery. Memorial donations in Graham’s memory are payable by cheque to the “Legion Poppy Fund - Br. # 153, Tillsonburg” through the Verhoeve Funeral Home, 262 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-4238).
