Posted

It is with heavy hearts that the family of David Arthur Gay announces his sudden passing at home on July 25, 2014 in his 67th year. Devoted father to James and Stephanie and proud Grandfather of Jayden. Cherished kindred-spirited big brother to William Edward Gay, Veronica Nicholson (Charlie), and Irene Armstrong (Fred Bain). Predeceased by his loving parents Cecile and Harold Armstrong and niece Christine Gay. Fondly remembered as “Uncle Dee” by Bill Gay (Julie), Robin Joanisse (Andre), Marc Belanger (Anne), David Bain and Jesse Bain. Lovingly remembered by many great nieces, nephews and cousins. Sadly missed, in spirit always. A proud member of Michipicoten First Nation David was raised in Hawk Junction where he attended public school and Michipicoten High School in Wawa. Shortly after graduation he joined the Canadian Armed Forces where he acquired his knowledge of electronics. Upon his return home he worked at Algoma Central Railroad as a Brakeman. He began to work at Algoma Ore where he obtained an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) gold seal from George Brown College. Along with his family they relocated to Sault Ste. Marie where he worked at Algoma Steel, until he retired in 2010.  A humbled friend of Bill’s for 33 years.  David loved living at Rankin and on most days he was seen sitting on his front bench socializing.  David will be sadly missed but not forgotten by his Rankin family Cathy, Joyce, Claude, Carlee, Lavina, Claudette, Wayne, Mary and Darlene.  Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 6-9pm. The family will bring David home one last time to rest beside his parents and niece at Hawk Junction Cemetery for burial on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at 1pm, Feast to follow at the Hawk Junction Community Hall. Memorial donations made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
