Temporary Full-Time 12-month Internship

The Group Health Centre is a progressive multi-speciality ambulatory care organization and is one of Canada’s first consumer-sponsored healthcare facilities. As Ontario’s largest and longest-established alternatively funded healthcare organization, Group Health Centre serves over 50,000 Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District residents.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Communications & Community Engagement, the Communications & Engagement Associate will provide a full range of support within all areas of communications, contributing to the smooth operations of the department while receiving hands-on experience in the planning, development and implementation of high quality, internal and external communications in support of GHC ‘s health programs, primary care, specialty care, corporate services, and Trust Fund.

Required Qualifications
Education & Experience

  • College Diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Recent graduate (within last three years)
  • First-time employment in field of study

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Communications

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and managing communications campaigns and initiatives and ensure all project timelines, activity milestones and outcomes are met.
  • Maintain the GHC Intranet, assist with editorial oversight, and provide content as assigned.
  • Create/maintain communications (written/visual/digital platform) materials for various platforms and audiences.
  • Assist in managing/maintaining GHC’s corporate website and digital display content.
  • Create content and tools for communications that promote GHC’s brand.
  • Assist with projects that use visuals, video, and/or multimedia storytelling to support the GHC’s work.
  • Respond to general inquiries or re-direct them to the appropriate departments.

Social Media

  • Support GHC’s digital management presence, including the creation of content, monitoring, and reporting on data analytics.
  • Monitor and identify social media traffic, including negative posts, and participate in response strategy.


Marketing/Events Planning

  • Provide support for GHC events and Trust Fund campaigns, and annual fundraising events.
  • Assist in the creation, design and preparation of capital campaign/annual fundraising event materials as required.
  • Design brochures, displays, signage, multimedia, and presentation materials.
  • Assist in building GHC’s brand and support brand awareness initiatives.
  • Represent the organization at community and partner events.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Advanced Computer skills (Microsoft Suite).
  • Strong skills in web design and graphic design (Adobe Suite).
  • Excellent writing and visual medium skills.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple initiatives and meet deadlines.• Strong ability to communicate compelling and inspired vision.
  • Understanding of brand identity building through written, visual, and digital mediums.
  • Strong time management, prioritization skills, and meticulous record-keeping skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain successful and positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients.
  • Demonstrated effort in living the values of GHC.


Compensation:
Salary: $45,205.99
Paid Vacation: 2 weeks
