Belanger is low bidder on Lake Street reconstruction

Belanger Construction Ltd. is lowest among four bidders for the reconstruction of Lake Street between Wellington Street East and Trunk Road.

In tenders opened this afternoon at the Civic Centre, Belanger bid $781,202 for the job, which the City's roadwork consultant estimated would cost about $800,000.

Barring unexpected developments, Belanger is expected to get formal go-ahead for the project at Monday night's meeting of City Council.

Construction is expected to begin June 17, City officials said.
