It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helga Drape at her residence in Elliot Lake on Wednesday March 27, 2024 at the age of 88. Predeceased by her husband Helmut Drape. Beloved mother of Horst Drape (Debbie) of Scarborough & the late Jens Drape. Loving Oma to Shawn (Kim), Christopher, Matthew and special aunt of Terry Garner (Kevin) from Thunder Bay. Also survived by relatives in Germany, as well as friends and neighbors in Canada. She will be extremely missed by her so called adoptive kids, Josianne and Mike Regis.
Helga will be remembered for her amazing baking skills, specifically in preparing the most exquisite desserts. Her Black Forest cake recipe was more than delicious! She loved gardening in her backyard, nature & everything it had to offer, as well as feeding & watching her hummingbirds which she affectionately called “Peepsie & Poopsie”. She also had a great love of dogs, specifically all the German Shepherds she had throughout her life. Helga was a seamstress by trade & sewed many pieces of clothing throughout her life, including the bridesmaids dresses for her son’s wedding.
A memorial service celebrating Helga’s life will be held at the Elliot Lake Funeral Chapel & Cremation Centre (36 Ontario Ave) on Saturday June 8, 2024 at 11 am. Pastor Larry Armstrong officiating. Memorial contributions to Furever Homes and Lodging - Society for Animals in Distress, Elliot Lake would be appreciated by the family.
