Student production of 'Clue' taking stage at Superior Heights

A new-to-the-Soo production will wrap up the season for Superior Heights' theatre company.

The group will be performing Clue: On Stage next week in a production that will mark the first time since the pandemic that the Superior Heights theatre auditorium will be used for a mainstage production.

The performance is set to run from May 22-25 at 7 p.m. at Superior Heights.

The production is based on the family-favourite board game Clue, which was brought to life as a feature film in 1985 before being adapted for the stage.

The local performance is directed by Anthony Aceti, Clue: On Stage is the story of six strangers trapped in Boddy Manor, a remote mansion where secrets are stored, and twists and turns abound. Professor Plum, Mr. Green, Mrs. White, Colonel Mustard, Miss Scarlet, and Mrs. Peacock are the pseudonyms of the unwitting victims of blackmail who have gathered for a special dinner party. When the stakes are raised and an unexpected visitor turns up dead, the guests and house staff must race to solve a series of crimes and make a correct accusation before the police arrive and everyone gets arrested. 

The cast of student performers includes Owen McIntyre (Wadsworth), Alorha-Lee van Bruchem (Yvette), Nathaniel Dewar (Mr. Green) Cameron Leask  (Colonel Mustard), Evan Prieb (Professor Plum), Katrina MacGlashan (Miss Scarlet), Sofya Ooi (Mrs. White), Ren Moreland (Mrs. Peacock), Rowan Christenson (the Cook), Kairo Tan (Mr. Boddy), the Motorist (Carlo Cariati), the Cop (David Seeler), the Singing Telegram (Maggie Lawson) and David Coccimiglio and Isabella MacKay (FBI Agents). 

An all-student crew will be managing the production as well, led by Lilly Stone and Sarah Cariati. Joey Gulley will be assisting with sound, Hailey Hayes with publicity, Kayleigh Agonis with backstage management, Noemí García will run the sound and music cues, and Myla Bjornaa has assisted with line readings.

Props are built by Superior Heights students and will feature the infamous murder weapons from the original game: the wrench, the candlestick, the rope, the revolver, the knife, and, of course, the lead pipe.   

With a seating capacity of 156, tickets for the show are limited and anyone interested in seeing the performance are being urged to buy tickets in advance,
