Sault Police are looking for witnesses after double shooting overnight

Sault Police are investigating a double shooting overnight that sent two people to hospital — one with life-threatening injuries.

The shooting occurred around midnight in the 0-100 block of Wemyss Street, near Pim and Wellington streets.

Officers were dispatched to the scene after multiple people phoned 911 to report possible gunfire at a residence.

“Officers found two victims with injuries from gunshot wounds,” says a news release issued Saturday morning by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “Both were taken to hospital. One victim with life threatening injuries, the other with serious injuries.”

People believe the shooting was an “isolated incident.”

Officers remain on scene as the investigation continues.
