For Brad Gregorini and his crew at Norpro Security and Investigations, security work involves a lot more than being a lone guard keeping an eye on a warehouse overnight.

Gregorini, Norpro president, said, “Norpro was a security guard provider for more than 30 years, then in 2013 we started expanding our services by providing guards, specialty investigations services as well as health and safety training." The company also works closely with law enforcement agencies such as the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, he said.

Norpro’s health and safety training involves preparing its own employees and those in other businesses to work at heights and in enclosed spaces, as well as providing CPR training.

“The last piece of our expansion was in the technology sector, in alarm systems and security cameras, so Norpro has really transitioned since 1980,” Gregorini having taken over as Norpro boss in 2013.

Norpro performs corporate investigations and cases involving harassment, Gregorini added.

The company has expanded across Ontario, and recently, into Michigan.

“We’re growing all the time,” Gregorini said, with approximately 80 employees locally.

“We provide all the training. We’re a government certified training provider, so if you don’t have the training and want to be a guard, we have a job for you. If you want to learn about something more technical, we’ll help you grow in that direction. We have accountants, we have managers, we have sales teams, we’re always looking to hire people and continue to grow. Postsecondary education is recommended, but if you don’t have it, we can still find a home for you.”

“There’s a home here for somebody with an MBA or a doctorate, or for someone who wants a second career or who still wants to do some work in retirement.”

“For me, it was like giving back to the community. I wanted to make a difference in making the Sault a safe and secure community,” Gregorini said.
