VIDEO: Something spooky at Hiawatha Highlands

Sold out haunted walk a hit in the Soo

Shana Shipperbottom And Ryan Walker of Forest The Canoe hosted a sold-out haunted walk event at Hiawatha Highlands Park recently.

They are interpretive guides who specialize in acquiring knowledge on an area and packaging that information in a fun, easy-to-digest adventure.

"We posted the event on a Saturday and the next day went canoeing on the Montreal River," said Shipperbottom.

To their surprise the event quickly filed up. "We got like 35 bookings in one day, so we decided to release more dates. Two days later, the events were all sold out."

Walker, who recently graduated from Sault College's adventure recreation and parks technician program, has always been the outdoorsy type, but it was during his studies that he became intimately familiar with the park and its trails.

"We really like putting value on using the trails," said Walker.
