Our Downtown parking meters will be getting a makeover in the new year, with meters on Queen Street gradually being replaced with solar powered pay-and-display machines.

Not only are the new pay-and-display machines technologically superior by accepting flexible forms of payment including coins, bills and debit or credit cards, but they also allow the time you buy to be transferrable. The new meters will have customers pay at the unit and put the parking permit they purchase in their vehicle. While there is time left on it, that permit can then be used at any other pay and display area or parking meter operated by the City in the downtown core.

The new units are set to begin their roll-out in 2014, and will continue to be introduced to Queen Street over a four-year period.
