It’s never too early to start thinking about next season.

According to a recent informal survey, 34 percent of snowmobile owners chose to customize their sled, while 22 percent have plans to do so in the future.

This may not come as a surprise.

That’s because snowmobilers in Northern Ontario aren’t captivated by what’s ordinary. It’s the unique and novel that is searched out; an accomplishment the most adventurous personalities strive for.

There’s something too easy about the expected – it’s not boring but not exciting. It falls short of reflecting the character of our riders in the North and it doesn’t tell a story of who you are.

In large part, this is why so many snowmobile enthusiasts customize their sleds.

Modifying works towards achieving a specific “feeling” when riding and fulfills the desire to stand apart from the crowd - there’s something about being unique in both style and how the sled meets a rider’s ultimate needs on the trails, in the powder or on the track.

“All of our clients have specific needs and wants when it comes to their sleds,” says Jordan Rocchetta, co-owner of Northshore Sports & Auto in Sault Ste. Marie. “It’s all about how the machine’s going to function under the conditions it’s used while offering something unique, reliable and personal to the owner.”

“Our goal is to build and provide the best product options to a community we’re passionate about.”

Customization can mean anything from cosmetic upgrades, individualized riding gear and accessories to enhanced performance parts. Graphics kits, suspension upgrades, shock enhancements and track selection all play a part in making a snowmobile specifically functional and unique.

Pioneering brands like Ski-Doo recognize the snowmobiler’s desire for individuality and offer customization opportunities that rival aftermarket choices. And with a Genuine Parts catalogue thicker than the Canadian Tire Christmas Book there are no shortage of fun options to build with the Ski-Doo brand.

“Although the 2018 season is coming to a close, we want our customers to be as excited about moving toward 2019 as we are,” says Rocchetta. “So we want to offer incentives that will help get them riding exactly what they want next season.”

“Our snow-check sales event is a good example of how we work with our clients to provide them with the best all-round options for the best prices.”

The snow-check event offers local dealer and manufacturer incentives on graphics packages, suspension and track upgrades, extended warranty, accessories and riding gear, plus more.
