Over the years, it’s safe to say that sports have changed considerably. If you want to know what is going to be seen in the future or if you want to try and find out what possible movements are going to be made then the only thing that you need to do is take a look below.

For Players

Not only will sporting stars start to reap the benefits of technological advancements, they will also feel the pressure when it comes to their chosen field, much more. Athletes are going to be standing  alongside a very, very different sports player in no time at all.

Betting

Another area that has changed quite a lot would be the betting industry. Sports betting sites such as Comeon sports as a typical example are now able to offer betting online in real time. Additionally, you can watch live videos via the websites as well. This is all very interesting to say the least and it just goes to show that technology is continually improving the game for both the players and the people who are spectating.

Outfits

In the near future, it’s safe to say that athletes are going to have way more access to things such as smart clothing. Items of clothing are going to come with sensors which are integrated into the design. This is going to help to read any biometrics and it also means that heart rate and temperature can be tracked too. In the next couple of decades it would not be surprising to see people using smart technology to find out why people have developed certain illnesses.

Closer Scrutiny

In 2018, during the FIFA World Cup, video assistant technology was introduced for the very first time. The technology gave referees the chance to replay any footage that they had to try and find out if the result of a play was as previously seen. VAR can also be used to try and reward or even rescind penalties too.

Genetics

This may sound like something out of a science fiction movie, but athletes that have been genetically edited may not be as far away as they seem. According to one report, part of the data collection capabilities in sport could well mean that this is possible. The data could show the genetic traits that someone has and it could also determine if they have the potential to be a top player. This can then be used in things such as gene editing, not to mention that it could well produce athletes which are much stronger and faster.

eSports

What was once seen as trying to get too good at a video game is now seen as being a full sport. eSports may well have grown rapidly over the years but at the end of the day it would seem that the viewership is now starting to rival that of real-life sports. This is fantastic to say the least and it just goes to show that the advancements that have been made really are phenomenal. Who knows what the future holds, but right now, it would seem that things are moving in a positive direction for sports.
