If the COVID-19 shut-down had you craving the fish fry at Chummy’s Grill or their freshly baked cinnamon buns and bear paws, the wait is no longer. This popular eatery, known for friendly service and generous portions, is now open with the option of pick-up and patio service.

When it comes to fresh and local, Chummy’s Grill ticks all the boxes. Dishes are created from locally-sourced beef and fish and all baking is done fresh, daily, along with their popular hand-cut fries.

Located east of the city in the Batchawana First Nation Rankin community, Chummy’s menu is an amalgamation of traditional recipes, customer feedback and additions by staff. Four Directions omelettes are named after the First Nations’ four seasons and their respective life lessons; the Sunrise Burger recognizes the importance of the start of a new day and the various Grandmother, Grandfather, Chief or Papoose burgers recognize the importance of various community members.

Chummy’s dishes and hospitality have earned the restaurant a high satisfaction rating across several online review sites including Trip Advisor. Customers not only enjoy the food and service but boast about the décor. Although the inside restaurant is not currently open, featured photography and the chain-saw wood carvings by Pete Ryan of Hope, British Columbia are focal points. And as the province opens up, regulars will be surprised to see renovations that were completed just before to COVID-19.

In the future, at Phase Three, Chummy’s Grill will be able to seat up to 50 people. For now, patrons can enjoy their favourite menu items now via pick up or on Chummy’s patio.

Management and staff are looking forward to seeing familiar faces and welcoming new customers to come and experience Chummy’s Grill.
