SAULT STE. MARIE, MICH. - The traffic configuration is set to change in the Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) work zone on the I-75 Business Spur (BS) in Sault Ste. Marie.

Beginning Monday, May 6, Three Mile Road will be closed at the roundabout while the remaining work on the roundabout is completed. One lane of traffic will be maintained through all other legs of the roundabout during this closure.

There is no signed detour for this construction stage; motorists are advised to seek other routes. Three Mile Road can be accessed from M-129.

This phase of work is expected to be completed in approximately two weeks.

MDOT and the City of Sault Ste. Marie are investing $11.2 million to reconstruct 2.2 miles of roadway and construct a roundabout combining the intersections of Three Mile Road/Mackinac Trail and I-75 BS/Mackinac Trail in Sault Ste. Marie. The project began in May 2018, was suspended for the season from November 2018 through April 2019, and is expected to be completed in spring 2020.

This project is expected to improve safety and traffic flow in this area.
