SAULT STE MARIE, MICH - Local foods enthusiasts will soon have another shopping option in downtown Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, with the start of the Saturday edition of the Sault Michigan Farmers Market.

The market will be open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon at the corner of Portage and Ashmun, under the canopy, from July 15 through Aug. 26. The Wednesday market will continue as usual each Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. through Oct. 25 at the same location.

“Customers and vendors have been requesting a Saturday Market,” said Farmers Market Association President Greg Zimmerman, “July and August are peak produce season, so there should be plenty of great, fresh, local vegetables, along with baked goods, and fine, local crafts.”

Downtown Development Authority Director Justin Knepper said, “Downtown Sault Ste. Marie welcomes the addition of a Saturday morning farmers market; we love seeing local growers utilize our market plaza.”
