NEWS RELEASE
HEALTHY AND PRODUCTIVE MICHIGAN
*************************
Tuesday was the last day for the Michigan legislature to pass recreational marijuana, an alternative to allowing it on the ballot. Our elected officials have opted to not preemptively legalize recreational marijuana. The president of Healthy and Productive Michigan, a ballot committee opposing the legalization of recreational marijuana in Michigan, Scott Greenlee released this statement:

“With the Michigan Legislature passing on adopting a citizens initiative to legalize recreational marijuana today, the issue will go to the ballot in November for the people of Michigan to decide. Healthy and Productive Michigan continues to stand strongly opposed to any legalization of recreational marijuana and will work hard to present the many reasons that this initiative would be an absolute disaster for Michigan to our voters.

"Michigan does not need pot candy and cookies, and we don’t need more drugged drivers and workers under the influence. We recognize that this would be against federal law, likely not live up to financial projections, as has been the case in other states, and result in a number of long term societal problems.

"We encourage people to vote 'no' on November 6!”
