Possible COVID-19 exposure closes Chippewa County Animal Shelter

Chippewa County Animal Shelter in Sault Ste. Marie, Mi has reported potential COVID-19 exposure.

On its Facebook page, the shelter says the potential exposure took place on Saturday and Monday of this past week.

The shelter says the person is not currently a resident of Chippewa County.

Chippewa County Animal Shelter will be closed to the public for cleaning until Monday.

It advises anyone who visited the shelter on these dates between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to monitor for symptoms and contact Chippewa County Health Department if they have any questions regarding possible exposure at 906-635-1566.

To date, the Chippewa County Health Department, which covers the area of Sault Ste. Marie, Mi, has reported 33 confirmed cases, 14 probable cases, 24 recovered, and 0 deaths.
