Free music all summer long in Sault Michigan

SAULT STE. MARIE, MICH. - Downtown Sault Ste. Marie (Michigan) is set to kick off the 21st season of its Music in the Park summer concert series next Wednesday, June 13. A variety of entertainers have been scheduled to perform each Wednesday through August beginning at 7 p.m. in the Soo Locks Park. Concerts are free to attend, however donations are welcomed to help cover the of the series.

A volunteer driven committee of Sault locals is responsible for scheduling the entertainment and organizing volunteers. This year’s schedule welcomes back eight crowd favourites and three new acts to the series including: A Night of Native Music, Drew Hale Music and local artist Mark Bowen.

The full lineup features:

June 13 – Soo Theatre Project
June 20 – Gentleman George
June 27 – Saline Fiddlers
July 11 – Night of Native Music
July 18 – Petoskey Steel Drum Band
July 25 – Blue Water Ramblers
Aug. 1 – The Gordon Lightfoot Tribute
Aug. 8 – Drew Hale Music
Aug. 15 – The Pub Runners
Aug. 22 – Lise White and Friends
Aug. 29 – Mark Bowen

Each year the Downtown Development Authority receives a grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs which helps offset the summer’s concert series. Twenty-two local businesses and community partners also generously help pay for Music in the Park in addition to grants and crowd donations.
