SAULT STE MARIE, MICH. - City officials from Sault Ste. Marie visited with members of the Coast Guard Sector Sault Ste. Marie command to discuss ice breaking operations and to get a tour of the St. Marys River Vessel Traffic Service, yesterday.

Mayor Anthony Bosbous and City Manager Oliver Turner met with Captain Marko Broz, commander of Sector Sault Ste. Marie and Mark Gill, Director of Vessel Traffic Service St. Mary’s River.

The group discussed Coast Guard ice breaking operations in the Great Lakes, including this season’s weather and ice conditions, Coast Guard ice breaking authority and priorities, and capabilities of the ice breaking cutters.
