SAULT STE MARIE, MI - Downtown Sault Ste. Marie will host its annual Christmas Open House on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The public is invited to visit Santa in the Christmas Tree Forest inside Avery Center. Dale Johnson of DRJ Photography will be onsite capturing moments with Santa with photo packages available for sale.

Horse-drawn wagon rides will be provided to and from shopping destinations along Ashmun Street and Portage Avenue with more than 30 shops and stores participating, offering hot drinks, treats, and in-store specials!

Shoppers are invited to pick up event brochures inside downtown retailers and restaurants for a chance to win a gift basket valued at over $300. Instructions on how to win are printed on brochures.

Other event highlights include:  

  • Model Train and toy displays inside Chippewa County Historical Society
  • River of History Museum Tours
  • Christmas Wrapping provided by area Girl Scouts (by donation)
  • Holiday Centerpiece making workshop – Co-Ed Flowers and Gifts
  • Childrens Open House featuring children’s story time and crafts – After All This Time  
  • Daymakers Day Spa Open House featuring vendors, tastings and more!
