Yes, pot psycosis is real. I experienced it in the 80's. I was delusional, paranoid and hearing voices. Luckily for me there was no permanent damage, and the symptoms quickly fadad after I stopped using.

Further to my last comment, that means 297 murders were committed by other means, including knives, baseball bats etc. So if we follow the logic of Soostrong, that means that we should also be banning knives and bats, and no the logic of my argument is not weak. That logic cannot be applied to support the pro ban arguement and not the anti ban arguement. A firearm is an inanimate object. It is completely harmless until it gets into the hands of a human being, just like a knife or a bat. Also, to say that 50% of firearms used in a murder is stolen from a legidimate gun owner, even if that stat is true, means that only 68 or 69 murders are committed in all of Canada with a domestically stolen gun. That is a win for all of us. That tells me that the laws we have in place are working, and the police and border officers are doing a great job.

Banning handguns would solve nothing. Most gun crime in Canada is with stolen or illegally posesed firearms to begin with. According to Stats Can, gun crime has been steadily declining in Canada since 1972, except gang related gun crime. Its on the increase. In 2012 there were 433 homicides in Canada, only 137 of which were done with a firearm. In a country with 36 million people, this is a very low rate. This debate should not even exist. Provenzano has gone on record as saying that our city does not have a drug problem. We need someone who is going to met this issue head on, not a mayor who sticks his head in the sand.
