CONservatarded, do you renew your drivers license every year? Whats the difference? You take a test, pass, drive a car. Gun owners cannot. We take a course, then write a test. Afterwards we need to apply, which isn’t a guarantee, because the RCMP do a background check. For a handgun, after the rcmp check is done, the local police dept confirms they have reason in their records why you should not have a license. After that very lengthy wait time, and you get approved, you now need to wait for the license to be printed and mailed. 5 years later, the background check happens again. One call to the CFO from a medical professional, or the local PD, and you lose your license.
