My heart is broken. Kim was my dear dear friend. She credited me for her improved health and all I did was share info given to me from another client. She said she felt great. Better than ever. Rachel we were going to come out and learn from you. I am so devastated The world has lost a force. I will never forget her.

She interviewed me, along with others for my first teaching job at the Indian Friendship Centre. Her striking blue eyes and engaging manner put me completely at ease. I believe she was instrumental in me getting that job. That pretty much jump started my 28 years in the profession along with a dedication to urban and reserve Indigenous education, even writing my masters thesis about it. She was a remarkable and extraordinary spirit who you almost could sense was a rare gem given to the world to gently and patiently guide. Safe journey Carolyn. My deepest condolences to her family.

Well I am a teacher and a parent and my child's teachers did all they could under the circumstances. Our system is not equipped to be delivered 100 percent remotely and that is not on the educators. Not all teachers have the tools to do their jobs online....we entered this profession to engage with your children, to inspire them through rich learning, to guide them. How about you cut us a little slack while we learn to adjust in this new world. Feedback must be personalized and intentional---we do this as part of our jobs anyway. A high school teacher potentially has 75 or more students at a time...far more if Mr Ford didn't get tripped up by COVID. Do not forget our own children were home too. Edsby was intended to support, not replace.

sault college and algoma u are not holding contact classes....so why are contact classes even being considered right now? china is seeing a massive second wave. Online is NOT ideal. But how can a teacher keep a 6 year old from wiping their nose, touching things, one another. We are still social distancing. That is not possible in our schools. Also please remember that right up until state of emergency Ford was looking to increase class sizes. His focus was not on our children but on saving money. Employers need to adjust in order to keep our kids and our communities safe from spread. Nothing about this is convenient.

So happy I yielded a moment of joy in your life "travelling man". I am born and raised here and having left for a time means I have no less right to my part of the debate since this is where I have been sharing my small piece of the economy through spending and taxes. I was forced to leave because of the economy and lack of jobs...and still.the mass exodus of young people for the same reason is a far bigger concern to you and the rest of the city than a tract of undeveloped land that people used their democratic rights to fight. And exactly where in your comment is there a point related to the story? And also, the other side of the debate you referred to?

the closed and small mindedness of so many of these comments frightens me. I returned to this city 11 years ago, wanting to make it home, a place I grew up and wanted to raise my family. Now I can't wait to leave again. Fiscally speaking we may have issues....but we have to leave this area to our children...what kind of condition do we want to leave it in? Are you seriously downgrading the importance of the wetlands? In the name of jobs and development? The Supreme Court doesn't take small cases. This will play out and be judged by the most advanced minds in the country.

does it matter? pick your battles....if this case is at the Supreme Court it is because there is merit to trying to circumvent this development. They may be good people, but this is not necessary to their bottom line. And if they are community minded, then perhaps it is best to consider the community who want this stopped. It will not make a smidge of financial difference I am certain. 5 Million in damages???? I wish they cared more to protect the reputation I have read about in preceding comments.
