LIFE THREATENING MISCHIEF AT NEW SAW MILL
Echo Bay, Ont.

Sault OPP are investigating an act of vandalism at a new, controversial sawmill just north of Echo bay in Sylan Valley.

Workers at the mill were processing logs that were just about to be cut. It was noticed at that time that the steel portion of a screwdriver had been driven into a log then snapped off. The steel shank was left imbedded.

If this log had been put through the mill, it could have caused serious injury to anyone near the saw blade. When a saw blade hits a piece of steel, the blade may well shatter throwing broken steel in all directions at high speed. This flying steel can cause injury or even death.

There are significant criminal charges to be faced if the perpetrators of these acts are caught. If you have any information, please contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
