HWY 556 (RANGER LAKE ROAD) CLOSED
Searchmont, Ont.,
The Ministry of Transportation and the Sault Ste Marie OPP have closed Hwy 556, commonly referred to as Ranger Lake Rd, from Searchmont through to Hwy 129.
Repair crews are reporting numerous wash-outs and extensive flooding along many parts of the highway. The road will be closed until water levels subside enough to allow repair crew to safely fill in the holes and culverts that have been washed away. It is expected that conditions will worsen in that area before any relief is seen. Motorist can expect the closure to last several days .
Sault Ste Marie OPP and Ministry of Transportation personnel will continue to monitor all area highways and side roads for any further dangerous developments throughout the entire area.
