Victim shot with air gun following argument in Goulais River: OPP

A 30-year-old faces multiple charges stemming from an incident in Goulais River earlier this week, Sault Ste. Marie OPP stated in a news release issued today.

Police say they responded to a disturbance at a residence on Cedar Lane in Goulais River on April 2 around 12:51 a .m. after an argument between the accused and the victim occurred. 

Upon investigation, police discovered the accused left then returned to the residence and used an air gun to shoot the victim.

As a result, Colin Heeran from Goulais River was arrested and charged with multiple offences (listed below).

On April 2, 2022, at approximately 12:51 a.m., members from Sault Ste Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at a residence on Cedar Lane in Goulais River.

Investigation determined that an argument ensued between two individuals and one person was asked to leave the property who then left in a pick-up. A few minutes later the driver of the pick-up truck returned to the residence and used an air gun to shoot the person that was involved in the original interaction.

A short time later police located the accused, Colin Heeran, 30 years-old from Goulais River who was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Possession of weapon dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC
  • Dangerous operation, contrary to section 320.13(1) of the CC

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie on May 9, 2022.
