A vehicle fire reduced Hwy. 17 just north of the Sault to one lane Thursday evening, according to an alert from the Ministry of Transportation.
However, as of 9 p.m., the incident appeared to have been cleared.
The ministry reported a vehicle fire at Post Office Road in the Goulais River area, with the east (southbound) lane and shoulder closed to traffic.
The incident was reported at around 7:30 p.m. on the ministry's 511 website.
While snow had forced the closure of the highway from the Sault to Wawa, the road is no longer subject to an alert on the ministry’s 511 information service.
Hwy. 11 from Thessalon to Chapleau was also temporarily closed due to snow.
