Two from southern Ontario facing charges after stop in Blind River

Two people from Brantford, Ont. are facing charges after the vehicle they were in was stopped for traveling at a "high rate of speed."

The stop happened shortly after 1 a.m. on Causley Street in Blind River

Police determined that the driver of the vehicle was doing so while under suspension.

As a result, 36-year-old Christina Henhawk of Brandford is facing a pair of charges including:

  • Two counts of driving while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA); and with
  • Speeding, contrary to section 128 of the HTA.

The passenger of the vehicle, who is also the registered owner of the vehicle, is also facing a charge.

24-year-old Nico Smith, also of Brantford, was issued a provincial notice and is facing a charge of permit unlicensed person to drive motor vehicle, contrary to section 32(10) of the HTA.

The vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
