Two face charges following traffic stop

MISSISSAUGA FIRST NATION - On April 1, 2018, a member from the Mississauga First Nation Police Service was on patrol on Highway 17 near Mississauga First Nation.

Shortly after 11 a.m., police observed an eastbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated and the vehicle pulled into a local gas station parking lot on the territory of Mississauga First Nation. The female driver could not produce a valid driver's licence and the male passenger was the registered owner of the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation Emily Solomon, 20 years of age from Garden River, Ont. was issued two provincial offence notices and charged with:
    •    Drive motor vehicle - no licence, contrary to section 32(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA); and with
    •    Speeding, contrary to section 128 of the HTA.

Jonathon Beharriell, 28 years of age from Sault Ste Marie, Ont, was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with:
    •    Permit unlicensed person to driver motor vehicle, contrary to section 32(10) of the HTA.
