MACDONALD - MEREDITH - ABERDEEN ADDITIONAL TOWNSHIP - On June 21, 2017 at approximately 11:30 pm Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of an erratic driving complaint involving a tractor trailer unit travelling eastbound on Highway 17.  

A short time later an officer on patrol observed a vehicle matching the description given travelling eastbound on Highway 17 swerving between lanes and onto the gravel portion of the roadway.

The vehicle was pulled over and as a result of further police investigation the driver, Iqbal Soos, 61 years old of Brampton, Ont. was arrested and charged with:

  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Care or control of a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(b) CC

The accused was released on a Recognizance to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on July 10, 2017. The accused also received a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day impoundment on the tractor trailer unit.
