TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE - On Apr. 28, 2017, members from the East Algoma Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Highway 17, in the Township of the North Shore. 

Shortly after 9:30 p.m., police observed an eastbound tractor trailer on Highway 17 with its four way flashers on. The officer observed no taillights on the tractor trailer. A traffic stop was initiated and the vehicle was inspected.

As a result of the investigation, Ross Royle, 47 years of age, from Ameliasburg Township, Ont., was issued two provincial offence notices and charged with: 

  • Drive without proper rear light - Commercial motor vehicle, contrary to section 62(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA); and
  • Fail to maintain daily log, contrary to section 190(3) of the HTA.
