SCARY MOMENTS FOR ECHO BAY RESTAURANT WORKERS
Echo Bay, Ont.

Two employees of an Echo Bay restaurant experienced a scary moment yesterday morning after an emotionally distraught woman tried to get a pair of scissors and a kitchen knife from the workers.

At about 6:45 a.m. the two workers had just opened up for the day when a woman came in and sat at a table. She immediately started to exhibit indications of emotional problems. One of the employees was opening a package with a pair of scissors and the distraught woman grab them.

When the employee would not surrender the scissors the woman tried to get into the kitchen to get a knife. The two employees feared for the safety of the woman and themselves.

Officers from the Sault Ste Marie OPP attended the restaurant and took the woman to Sault and Area Hospitals. She was admitted to the hospital for a psychological assessment.
