Three people facing charges after alleged gas station theft

Sault Ste Marie OPP have arrested three individuals in connection with an incident that occurred at a gas station garage on Highway 17B in Macdonald-Meredith-Aberdeen Additional Township. 

According to police, the accused were stealing catalytic converters from vehicles in the parking lot. When confronted, they fled in a black car.

Shortly after this, the officers located and stopped the suspected vehicle on Sweet Grass Road in Garden River First Nation.

As a result, three people were arrested and are now facing multiple charges. 

Venessa Tookenay, 23, of Sault Ste Marie was charged with:

  • Theft over $5,000, contrary to section 334(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Mischief over $5,000, contrary to section 430(3) of the CC
  • Possession of break-in instruments, contrary to section 351(1) of the CC
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
  • Trespassing at night, contrary to section 177 of the CC
  • Failure to comply with undertaking, contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the CC

Kimmy Boyer, 50, of Batchewana First Nation was charged with:

  • Theft over $5,000, contrary to section 334(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Mischief over $5,000, contrary to section 430(3) of the CC
  • Possession of break-in instruments, contrary to section 351(1) of the CC
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
  • Trespassing at night, contrary to section 177 of the CC

They will show up before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie on Feb. 6, 2023.

Allysia Solomon, 26, of Garden River First Nation was charged with:

  • Theft over $5,000, contrary to section 334(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Mischief over $5,000, contrary to section 430(3) of the CC
  • Possession of break-in instruments, contrary to section 351(1) of the CC
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
  • Trespassing at night, contrary to section 177 of the CC
  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court (two counts), contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the CC

Solomon will attend the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sault Ste Marie on Dec. 7, 2022.
