Suspected drugs, guns seized from Mississauga First Nation residence: OPP

Two from southern Ontario arrested

A search of a Mississauga First Nation residence has led police to guns and $10,500 worth of suspected drugs, OPP say.

In a press release issued this morning, OPP say they executed a search warrant at a residence on Old Highway 17 within the Territory of Mississauga First Nation on Tuesday shortly after 3:30 a.m.

According to police, the following items were seized:

  • One loaded 9 mm handgun
  • 17 long guns
  • Suspected cocaine
  • Suspected green and purple fentanyl
  • Suspected crack cocaine
  • Suspected Percocet pills
  • $4400 in Canadian currency
  • Drug paraphernalia.

The value of drugs seized is believed to be approximately over $10,500. 

As a result of the investigation, Joshua Syliboy, 18 from Scarborough, was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - oxycodone, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, contrary to section 95(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 86(1) of the CC
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, contrary to section 95(1) of the CC
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm contrary to section 92(1) of the CC.

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Video Bail in Blind River on July 20, 2021 and was remanded into custody.

Additionally, Donavan Meloche, 21 from Orangeville, was charged with fail to appear in court, contrary to section 145(2)(b) of the CC.
