Sault woman charged after stolen mail, firearms recovered during Wasaga Beach traffic stop

TOWN OF WASAGA BEACH - On Dec. 7, 2019, members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Town of Wasaga Beach.

The resulting investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen and contained a large amount of stolen property including mail and firearms. The stolen items have been linked to incidents from multiple policing jurisdictions from around the Province including southern and northern Ontario communities. Police are still working with those police agencies and Canada Post in an effort to identify and return all of the stolen property.

The two occupants were arrested and charged:

Jonathon Kell, 31 years old from Scarborough, Ont.:
    •    Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000 (two counts)
    •    Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 (three counts)
    •    Possession of break in tools
    •    Theft from mail
    •    Possession article stolen from mail (two counts)
    •    Fail to comply with probation order (two counts)
    •    Possession of firearm contrary to probation order

Jessica Chiblow, 32 years old from Sault St Marie, Ont.:
    •    Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000 (two counts)
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (three counts)
    •    Possession of break in tools
    •    Theft from mail
    •    Possession of article stolen from mail (two counts)
    •    Fail to comply with probation order (five counts)
    •    Personation with intent to avoid arrest
    •    Obstruct peace officer  

Both accused persons have been remanded into custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie, Ontario on Dec. 9, 2019 for a show cause hearing.
