Sault man charged with impaired driving

A 60-year-old Sault man was charged with impaired driving. The full text of the release follows:

On May 6, 2022 at approximately 1:16 p.m. the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general law enforcement duties including traffic enforcement on Highway 17 in Baldwin Township.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and upon speaking with the driver it was determined they had consumed alcohol. The driver was subsequently arrested.

Lance Simon, 60-years-old from Sault Ste. Marie was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on June 20, 2022.
