A Sault Ste. Marie man faces charges after an incident at a hospital in Smooth Rock Falls.
OPP say they responded to a combative patient at the Smooth Rock Falls Hospital on Sunday at 8:42 a.m.
A press release issued today states police located the person in the emergency department, where a physical altercation ensued between the person and police.
No injuries were reported, OPP say.
As a result of the investigation, Shawn Kukela, 51 of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was arrested and has been charged with:
- Resist peace officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the CC, and
- Causing a disturbance, contrary to section 175(1)(a) of the CC.
The accused was released from custody after a bail hearing and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on April 29, 2021.
