Police investigate house fire north of Thessalon

A person was arrested at the fire scene who police say was in breach of domestic-related conditions

OPP are investigating a house fire in the Municipality of Huron Shores north of Thessalon that took place shortly after midnight on Saturday.

East Algoma OPP say they responded to a house fire where the home was fully engulfed in flames on Ansonia Road.

Police determined there was no one in the residence at the time of the fire. The investigation is still ongoing.

While at the fire scene police observed a person on the property who was in breach of domestic-related conditions.

As a result, an arrest was made and a 60 year-old from the Municipality of Huron Shores was charged with failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code (three counts).

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice video bail in Bind River on July 17, 2021 and was remanded into custody.
