Two people face numerous charges as a result

Two face numerous charges after police seized drugs and firearms during a bust in the Sault, Sault Ste. Marie OPP said in a news release issued today. 

Items seized included: 

  • over 25 grams of suspected yellow fentanyl (estimated value of over $9000),
  • over 6 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine (estimated value of over $1200),
  • over $3600 Canadian currency,
  • packaging material,
  • digital scale,
  • cell phones,
  • Glock 17 - 9mm handgun with a 17 round magazine loaded to capacity.

As a result, Jayden Aprile, 22, from Ajax, Ont., and Patricia Vierimaa, 24, from Sault Ste Marie were arrested and face multiple charges.

As a result of a drug investigation, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service's Crime Suppression and Drug Enforcement Units arrested two individuals on April 8, 2022 and seized: over 25 grams of suspected yellow fentanyl (estimated value of over $9000, over 6 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine 9estimated value of over $1200), over $3600 Canadian currency, packaging material, digital scale, cell phones, Glock 17 - 9mm handgun with a 17 round magazine loaded to capacity.(see attached photos)

As a result of the investigation, Jayden Aprile, 22 years-age from Ajax, Ont. was charged with: 

  • Carry firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner, contrary to section 86(1) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Carrying concealed weapon, contrary to section 90 of the CC
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the CC
  • Unauthorized possession of Weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the CC
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm, contrary to section 92(1) of the CC
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 92(2) of the CC
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, contrary to section 95(a) of the CC
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA
  • Traffick in Schedule I Substance - Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(1) of the CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA

Patricia Vierimaa, 24 years-of-age from Sault Ste Marie was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA
  • Traffick in Schedule I Substance - Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(1) of the CDSA
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC

Both accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sault Ste Marie on April 9, 2022.
