OPP charge male for Impaired driving and drug trafficking

THESSALON, ON – On April 27, 2016 at 12:45 a.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a parked motor vehicle running on Francis Street in the Town of Thessalon. 

While speaking with the driver, the police determined that the male driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages. 

As a result of the investigation, Jarrett Lawrence Rydall, 28 years of age, from Laird Township, ON, was arrested and charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired – Motor Vehicle (Alcohol), contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;

  • Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code;

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act;

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act and;

  • Driving While Under Suspension, contrary to section 53(1.1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River, on June 9, 2016.
