One victim suffers life-threatening injuries in suspicious Batchewana house fire, police say

Another victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries; Police and fire services are investigating this matter

BATCHEWANA FIRST NATION - On Sept. 22, 2019, at approximately 7 p.m., members from the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Batchewana Police Service, Algoma Emergency Services and Sault Ste. Marie Fire responded to a suspicious house fire on Batchewana First Nation.

When officers arrived on scene they located a male with life-threatening injuries and another male with non-life threatening injuries.

Both males were transported to hospital and are being treated for their injuries.

The Sault Ste. Marie Crime Unit is continuing the investigation with the assistance of the Ontario Fire Marshall (OFM) under the direction of Detective Inspector Matt Watson of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
