One charged following break and enter in Echo Bay

Police reviewed video footage and had descriptors of the suspect

MACDONALD-MEREDITH-ABERDEEN ADDITIONAL TWP — A Sault Ste. Marie resident faces multiple charges stemming from an incident that took place in Echo Bay earlier this week. 

In a news release issued today, Sault Ste. Marie OPP say they, along with Batchewana First Nation Police Service, responded to a call around 2:30 p.m. yesterday of a break and enter at a property on Horse Lake Road in Echo Bay.

Upon arrival, police reviewed video footage and had descriptors of the suspect. Police say after leaving the scene, they encountered the suspect driving an ATV on Lonely Lake Road. At approximately 4 p.m., police arrested the driver.

As a result, Bradley Charette, 33 was charged with:

  • Break, Enter Dwelling House-Commit Indictable Offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Theft Under $5000, contrary to section 334(b) of the CC
  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking, contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the CC

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie on November 7, 2022.
