SUSPENDED DRIVER CHARGED BLIND RIVER – On April 28, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties in the Town of Blind River. At 4:53 p.m.

SUSPENDED DRIVER CHARGED

BLIND RIVER – On April 28, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties in the Town of Blind River.

At 4:53 p.m. police observed a westbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Causley Street. A traffic stop was initiated. As a result of the investigation, the driver was found to be suspended.

Christopher William Larson, 27 years of age, from Campbell River, British Columbia, was charged with:  Use Licence of Other Jurisdiction While Your Ontario Driver’s Licence is Suspended, contrary to section .

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on June 22, 2016.

OPP CHARGE IMPAIRED DRIVER

BLIND RIVER – On April 30, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol in the Town of Blind River.  

At 2:32 a.m. police observed a vehicle pull out of a laneway onto Causley Street and continue westbound.  A traffic stop was initiated.  The officer determined the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverage and the driver was arrested.

Chad David Rolling, 27 years of age, from the Municipality of Huron Shores, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired- Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code; and
  • Driving with More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on June 9, 2016.

MALE CHARGED WITH STUNT DRIVING AND POSSESSION

BLIND RIVER – On April 30, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol in the Town of Blind River.  

At approximately 4 p.m. police observed a westbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Causley Street. A traffic stop was initiated. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that there was Cannabis Marihuana, Cannabis Marihuana resin in the vehicle and the driver was found to be suspended.

Shane Connor Kirby, 23 years of age, from Ottawa, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – Under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; and
  • Possession of Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – Under 1 gram, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt, contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act; and
  • Drive Motor Vehicle while Suspended, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on June 22, 2016 for the criminal charges and June 22, 2016 for the provincial charges.

OPP CHARGE IMPAIRED DRIVER

BLIND RIVER – On April 30, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties in the Town of Blind River.  

At 9:01 p.m. police observed a vehicle on Lawton Avenue and pulled out onto Causley and continued eastbound. A traffic stop was initiated. The officer determined the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverage and the driver was arrested.

Lisa Marie Hutchison, 34 years of age, from Iron Bridge, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Driving with More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on May 19, 2016.

DRIVER CHARGED WITH NO IGNITION INTERLOCK DEVICE

BLIND RIVER – On May 1, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties in the Town of Blind River.  

At 11:15 a.m., police observed an eastbound vehicle with no licence plates. A traffic stop was initiated on Causley Street. Police determined the vehicle had a valid temporary permit. Also, as a result of the investigation, the vehicle was not equipped with an Interlock Ignition Device as per the driver’s conditions.

Eugene Monague, 55 years of age from Christian Island, Ontario is charged with: Drive Motor Vehicle Not Equipped with Interlock Ignition Device, contrary section 41.2(1)(b) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on June 22, 2016
