On January 26, 2002 at approximately 8:30 p.m. the Sault Ste. Marie OPP responded to a reported assault at a private residence in Shetland Park north of the city.

On January 26, 2002 at approximately 8:30 p.m. the Sault Ste. Marie OPP responded to a reported assault at a private residence in Shetland Park north of the city. The complaintant indicated he had been assaulted with a beer bottle by his common-law, who fled the residence prior to officer's arrival. The complaintant was not seriously injured and declined medical treatment. The investigation is on going and charges are anticipated.
