On January 27, 2002 the Sault OPP received a report of an assault between two ice fishermen on Weckstrom Lake northwest of Searchmont. There were no injuries reported and the investigation is on going.

Also, on January 27, 2002 the Sault OPP received a report of a Break In to a rink shack behind Aweres Public School in Heyden. A locking hasp on the door had been forced off to gain entry. Approx. $75.00 in chips and chocolate bars were stolen. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sault OPP or Crime Stoppers.

On January 27, 2002 the Sault OPP received a complaint of speeding snow machines on the OFSC groomed trails in close proximity to area residences and businesses in the Heyden area. Users are reminded the speed limit on the groomed trails is 50 km/h. Police and S.T.O.P. officers from the Sault OPP will be conducting random spot and radar patrols on the groomed trails and charges will be laid accordingly.
