Manitoba man faces traffic charge in crash that killed four

WAWA – On Sept. 5, 2016 at approximately 7:30 a.m., members of the Wawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 approximately 20 kilometres west of Wawa near Catfish Lake.

The driver, a 52-year-old Manitoba male, has been charged with careless driving contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

Investigation has determined that the vehicle crashed into a rock cut resulting in the death of four passengers. The driver of the motor vehicle was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services in Toronto and further details will be released as they become available.
