On Oct. 1, 2017, shortly after 4 p.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment responded to a domestic disturbance at residence on Orrell-Callahan Drive in Jocelyn Township.

Investigation determined that a female had (allegedly) been physically assaulted by her husband on this date. While speaking to police, the victim had divulged two previous incidents of physical assaults by her husband within the months of August and September 2017.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. was charged with: assault-spousal (x3), contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code.

The accused was released on a Recognizance of Bail and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on Oct. 5, 2017.
